This long-awaited re-opening marked the culmination of a $165 million investment to upgrade and expand the park, including bringing the Indigenous Peoples Experience to life.

Initial public responses have celebrated the immersive, effective exhibit. Developed in conjunction with the City of Edmonton, Treaty Six First Nations, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, the Indigenous Peoples Experience tells a more comprehensive story about the rich history and cultures of the region.
